The Great Man

ree

We have a vision of a little workshop in the 19th century, particularly during the 2nd Empire, somewhere at the back of the Tuileries, or perhaps in the artists' quarter in Paris, where variably skilled painters were kept employed turning out miniatures of Napoleon I for his fans domestic and foreign. They turn up here and there and we have one owned by the Napoleon lover in this house. Regrettably this one is a far better example, painted with real sureness of hand to capture the historic image we all know perfectly. Typically and contemporaneously framed it is the ideal present for any, and there are plenty around, latter day Napoleon admirer. Do look at other Napoleonic items on this site if you are such a one.
