SALT ANYONE?

A splendid Samson sugar sifter / shaker decorated with floral and foliate decoration. Signed under with Oriental style marks. Approx. 8 3/4" high.  We are all rather used to silver sugar sifters sitting on tables, usually with a solidified block of caster sugar thumping about inside that might have been there since the sifter was first used in the 19th century.  This porcelain version might be less durable but the Samson company ceased production in 1969 so it has already been around for well over half a century, and almost certainly longer, and is a decorative and more unusual vessel for the sugar on your table, plus it doesn't need polishing. Soft fruit season is coming. £160
