Charming 1845 miniatures of Albert Prince of Wales and Victoria Princess Royal

These dear little 1845 miniatures of Albert Prince of Wales and Victoria Princess Royal, the eldest son and daughter of Queen Victoria are by John Simpson, 1811-71,  after Franz Winterhalter, 1805-1873. Simpson was the principal figure painter at Minton from 1837, moving to London ten years later to work independently, painting miniatures on both metal and porcelain. He exhibited at the Royal Academy most years from 1847-71. Queen Victoria was a patron and twenty-six examples of his work are at Osborne House. They are collector's pieces and might otherwise appeal for their obvious quality and charm whether or not you are a collector of porcelain or royal memorabilia. Note they are remarkably difficult to photograph well behind glass due to reflection off one or other surface.  If you would like to see them for yourself, we may be able to arrange to get them to you on a sale or return basis. 🚚  Please contact us for postage/delivery costs
