AND FROM DELHI, WHERE I AM !

An Indian copper framed miniature on ivory of the Qutb Minar, Delhi

These little miniatures, which often appear with images of important Indian sites or famous figures, such as Maharajah Ranjit Singh, various Mughal emperors, women such as Mumtaz Mahal, and the best known figures of the 1857 rebellion such as the Rani of Jhansi and the Nana Sahib, were made during the 19th century for early tourists to India or for expatriate residents to send home to provide illustrations of Indian life and news. They vary considerably in quality.  This of the Qutb Minar is a nice example of one of the most iconic and regularly pictured sites in Delhi.
