A MAMMOTH TOOTH NETSUKE: 2CMS SQUARE

A CARVED MAMMOTH TOOTH NETSUKE

This near postage stamp sized netsuke is a collector's piece, albeit that might be a new collector because it is so beautifully carved.  We wondered if a buyer might like to have it set in a gold, silver or gilded rim with a loop to be worn as a pendant.  It would be a unique piece of jewellery and we can arrange manufacture at reasonable cost by out Indian jeweller.  Otherwise this little carving stands on its own.  We think it is modern -  during the 20th century and continuing today there are a number of carvers who have realised the fascination of art works that combine ancient mammoth ivory with the antique carving skills they still employ today to make exquisite pieces. £310
