A carved granite bird sculpture

We are presuming this splendidly massive, and heavy, bird is granite but we might be wrong, He stands 36cm high on his wooden plinth and has both character and solidity.  A stand out piece in the centre of a table where light from a window would add to his textured surface.  We have no idea where he comes from - he is reminiscent of and Inuit carved stone piece but we suspect parrots are unlikely to have come from such latitudes. £295
